Biography

Dr. Tammy Schirle
I am currently an Associate Professor of Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. I am also the Director of the Laurier Centre for Economic Research and Policy Analysis (LCERPA) and a member of the C.D. Howe Institute's Pension Policy Council.
I completed my Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia in 2006. I graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B.A.(Hons) in Economics in 1999 and completed my M.A. in Economics at Dalhousie University (Halifax) in 2000.
I am a labour economist and applied econometrician with interests in public policy. My research interests include the economics of the elderly, income inequality, social policy, and the economics of gender. I have published articles in several academic journals, including the Journal of Labor Economics, Canadian Journal of Economics, Canadian Public Policy, Social Science and Medicine, and the Review of Income and Wealth. Current research projects focus on retirement income policies, the effects of the business cycle on family structure, and the impact of the Universal Child Care Benefit on women's labour supply choices.
